Barcelona News: Pedri Lavishes Praise on Robert Lewandowski
Barcelona news: Midfielder Pedri has lavished praise on teammate Robert Lewandowski after the Polish striker bagged a brace in the Catalan club’s recent win.
He has joined Barcelona on a four-year contract with the option to extend it by another 12 months. Lewandowski made his Barcelona competitive debut against Rayo Vallecano in their La Liga 22/23 season opener. However, the 34-year-old drew blank as Vallecano held Barca to a goalless draw.
Lewandowski has now scored his first goals for Barcelona. He found the back of the net twice as Barcelona defeated Real Sociedad in their second game of the league season. Lewandowski scored in the 1st and 68th minutes as Barcelona won the match 4-1.
Speaking after the match, Barcelona midfielder Pedri heaped praise on his club teammate. Pedri said that although Lewandowksi is 34 years old, the Poland international looks 20.
Pedri also said it is ‘crazy’ how many goals Lewandowski scores and how he works for the team.
Lewandowski also spoke after Barcelona’s thumping win over Sociedad. He said Barcelona can only improve from here, and it is only a matter of time before they understand each other better.
“It’s just a question of time until we understand each other better and I think we are getting there,” Lewandowski said.
“It’s a great team with young players and others who have more experience and we try to give advice.”
Barcelona manager Xavi also heaped praise on Lewandowski after their latest victory. Xavi said Lewandowski is an example for the team, and also labelled him as a player for the present and the future.
Meanwhile, Barcelona host Real Valladolid in their next game in the La Liga. The match between Barcelona and Valladolid kicks off at 11:00 pm Indian Standard Time, on Sunday, August 28th.
