Erik Ten Hag Vows to Give Everything to Prevent Manchester City From Winning Treble
Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has vowed to give everything to prevent Manchester City from winning a historic treble this season.
Manchester City remains in contention for trophies on three different fronts this season. Pep Guardiola and co. have qualified for the final of the FA Cup after defeating Sheffield United in the semi-final. Manchester City have also booked their place in the semi-final of the Champions League, where they will square off with defending champions Real Madrid.
Manchester City are also in the race for the Premier League title. They currently sit second in the points table, behind table-toppers Arsenal. In the Premier League, Arsenal enjoys a five-point lead over Manchester City but the Gunners have played two games more than the Cityzens.
Manchester City also welcomes Arsenal to the Etihad Stadium in their next game in the Premier League. The result of that fixture could prove crucial in the Premier League title race.
Erik ten Hag said fans can rely on Manchester United to give their 100% to defeat Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
“We have proof that we could play (from a 2-1 win at Old Trafford). Then we have to play the perfect game. The key? I don’t tell you. I keep that for myself. We have to go again. First of all, you have to focus on different games, we have to be in the top four.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United defeated Brighton & Hove Albion on penalties in the FA Cup semi-final. The game remained locked in a draw at the end of normal time and the extra time and headed into the penalty shootout. Brighton & Manchester United converted each of their first six penalties.
Solly March stepped up to take Brighton’s seventh penalty and missed it, while Victor Lindelof converted Manchester United’s seventh to send them into FA Cup final.
