After spending some time in the academy of Newell’s boys, Lionel Messi joined the youth setup of FC Barcelona at a very young age. He then graduated from the Barcelona academy and was promoted to the main team. After his promotion, Messi did not take much time to settle.
He became one of the best players in the history of football. Messi won everything for Barcelona and made them one of the best clubs in the world. His love for Barcelona was unparalleled and it was often thought the Argentine forward will only retire in a Blaugrana shirt.
Things however did not happen as he would have wanted. Due to a deep financial mess, Barcelona could not register the contract of Lionel Messi. The Argentine had to leave the club at the beginning of last season.
It has been more than a year since Lionel Messi joined Paris Saint-Germain from the Catalan giants. However, even now many fans and supporters consider Lionel Messi as a symbol of Barcelona.
Barcelona loanee and former teammate of Lionel Messi, Clement Lenglet is also included in that group.
“For me, Messi is always a Barca player,” says the former Barcelona defender. Now Lenglet also opinioned that Lionel Messi is the greatest player in the world.
The Frenchman revealed that Messi helps other players to grow every day. Lenglet joined Barcelona at the start of the 2018-19 season when the Catalan giants paid his release clause worth €35 million to Sevilla.
He had a good start with the club and won the league in his first season. But then he failed to give consistent performances in the next years. Finally, Barcelona decided to loan out the French defender at the start of this season. He is currently playing for Tottenham Hotspur and has so far made only three starts for the Spurs team.
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi had a tough start to his PSG career. he scored only 6 goals in his first Ligue 1 season but still managed to win the league.
This time around, the Argentine is in some great form. He has already scored eight goals and provided ten assists for the french champions. Lionel Messi’s contract at PSG will end next summer. So there are already seeing many rumours of a possible return to Barcelona. But at this moment he is only focused on the upcoming Qatar World Cup 2022.
