Liverpool Target Marcos Llorente Available in January
After spending some time in the academies of Las Rozas, Nueva Rocena and Rayo Majadahonda, Marcos Llorente joined the youth setup of la Liga giants Real Madrid.
He then rose through the ranks and was promoted to the senior side of Real Madrid. Soon after his promotion, he was loaned out to La Liga club Alaves. Llorente played one season with Alaves and then return to Real Madrid.
He stayed two more seasons in Real Madrid before joining their arch-rivals Atletico Madrid in 2019. In his second season with the Colchoneros, he won La Liga. Marcos Llorente has already represented Spain on the national stage. He was a part of the Spanish team that reached the semi-finals in Euro 2020.
Since joining, Atletico Madrid, Marcos Llorente has been one of the best performers for the Spanish side. His versatility to play equally in the midfield and as a right-back makes him one of the most important players for Diego Simeone.
English Premier League giants Liverpool are one of the teams who have an interest in the midfielder. The Reds have got a very poor start to their season. They have managed to win only four out of their first twelve matches in the English Premier league.
With sixteen points, Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently in ninth place in the table. Although both defenders and attackers have not performed at their best, it is the midfield area which needs reinforcement at the earliest. Liverpool’s midfield has been outmuscled by their opponents, quite a few times this season.
Veterans have not produced consistent performances and most of the Liverpool midfielders have suffered injuries. Their summer signing Arthur has managed only one appearance so far. Hence Liverpool are looking at many midfielders who can join them in the January transfer window.
One of the most versatile profiles in Europe, Llorente’s is a very good ball winner, great distributor and an apt playmaker. The Spaniard also has the ability to carry the ball and unleash long shots. He can be a great addition to the Liverpool midfield. On top of that, he can also give some rest to Trent Alexander Arnold and operate in the right-back position.
With Atletico Madrid failing to balance their book, Llorente is currently available for a price of £35-40 million. So if Liverpool want to sign him, the price tag is not going to be an issue for them.
The Reds will play Tottenham Hotspur in their next match.
