“Manchester City Have Future Strategy Without Me” – Guardiola
The following season Guardiola helped Manchester City to win the domestic treble. Their form took a hit during the 2019/20 campaign but they still managed to retain the league cup and finished second in the league. However, then Manchester City won back-to-back Premier League titles and restored their dominance.
In the last six seasons, Guardiola has won 4 English Premier League titles, 1 FA Cup, 4 EFL Cup, and 2 FA Community Shield with Manchester City. The only major trophy which he has failed to lift in his City career so far is the UEFA Champions League title.
Pep Guardiola’s current contract with City will expire at the end of the season. No contract renewal talks have taken place yet and if City fail to reach an agreement with the Spanish gaffer within the next nine months he will be a free agent.
So when asked about his future in the club, Pep Guardiola said, “The club knows exactly what is the target, the next step.”
He further added, “There will be zero problems, I am 100% convinced. They know what is the strategy, what they have to do for right now, the day after tomorrow, after the World Cup, next season, and the next season.”
Guardiola explained that City possess a solid base and they don’t rely on a single person. The Spanish gaffer has full confidence in the City management that they can take the club forward even after his exit.
Earlier Guardiola expressed his desire to manage a national team. So many thinks, he will probably not extend his stay at the Etihad. However, City management surely wants him to continue at the club. They will probably sit with him to renew his contract during the Qatar World Cup.
However, for now, they will try to do their best to keep probably the best manager in their history for a longer period.
Manchester City have got a great start to their English Premier League campaign. The Citizens have gathered seventeen points from seven matches and are currently in second place in the table. City will face their arch-rivals Manchester United later tonight.
