Marcus Rashford Reacts to Playing as Second Striker vs FC Sheriff
Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has reacted to playing as a second striker in the Red Devils’ win over FC Sheriff in the Europa League.
He also scored a goal in the 65th minute of the match, directing his header from a Luke Shaw cross past Maksym Koval and into the FC Sheriff net.
Against Sheriff, Rashford played in a central role, as a second striker, just behind Cristiano Ronaldo. Speaking about playing as a second striker, Rashford insisted he was comfortable in that position.
“He wants us to do similar things in those positions, linking with the forward, trying to get close to the forward and ultimately make the box, and try and score more goals. It was a nice feeling to come on and have a good impact.”
Meanwhile, the goal against Sheriff was Rashford’s sixth for Man Utd in the 22/23 season. Rashford is a regular starter at Man Utd under manager Ten Hag. He has featured in 14 games for Man Utd so far this season.
Rashford has made 11 appearances for Man Utd in the Premier League so far this season. He has racked up three goals and two assists in the English top flight so far in the 22/23 season.
Rashford has also featured in three matches for the Red Devils in the Europa League and has scored three goals.
Rashford’s tally of six goals so far this season is already better than what he had managed at Man Utd last season. The 24-year-old made 32 appearances for Man Utd last season and scored only five goals for the Red Devils.
Meanwhile, Man Utd are sixth in the English Premier League points table. The Red Devils have so far earned 20 points in the league from 11 matches with six wins, two draws, and three defeats.
Man Utd takes on West Ham in their next fixture in the English top-flight and Rashford will be aiming to add to his tally and help his side earn three points.
