Newcastle United news: Real Sociedad accepted the Magpies’ offer for Alexander Isak
Isak is currently among the most talented attackers in Europe. He joined the La Liga club from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window of 2019.
The 22-year-old attacker has played 105 league games for the Basque outfit so far, scoring 33 goals. He helped Sociedad win the 2019-20 Copa de Rey, finishing as the competition’s top scorer by scoring seven goals in eight games.
Isak is also a key member of Sweden’s national team. He has scored nine goals in 33 appearances for his country since making his debut in 2017.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Sociedad have accepted Newcastle United’s bid to sell Alexander Isak.
Both clubs are now discussing add-ons to conclude the deal before deadline day. The fee is expected to eclipse the £40 million the Toons paid to sign Joelinton from Ajax, making the Swedish the club’s record signing.
Newcastle United have enjoyed a decent transfer window under Eddie Howe. If the transfer does go through, Isak will become the Toons’ fourth signing of the transfer window after Sven Botman, Matt Targett, and Nick Pope. Isak’s signing will be a massive coup for them as they look to qualify for Europe this season.
The Sweden international is a target man who is known for his physicality and ability in the air. Despite being tall, he is also a good dribbler and likes to run at defenders.
He played 32 games in the league last term, registering six goals and two assists. Isak started the current season superbly as well and has already registered one goal in two appearances.
Newcastle United is currently sixth in the Premier League table, with five points from three games. They will next play Tranmere Rovers in the EFL Cup before locking horns against Wolverhampton United in the league.
Meanwhile, Real Sociedad have registered one win and one draw in their opening two La Liga games. They will lock horns against Atletico Madrid in their upcoming league game.
