Patrice Evra Did Not Like Erik Ten Hag Explanation for Not Playing Cristiano Ronaldo

Patrice Evra has criticized Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag for his comments on why he did not play Cristiano Ronaldo against Manchester City.

Manchester United made a short trip to the Etihad Stadium to face local rivals Manchester City in their recent game in the Premier League.

Against Manchester City, Ten Hag chose a starting XI that did not have Ronaldo. The Dutch manager also chose not to bring Ronaldo off the bench as a substitute.

Speaking after the match, Ten Hag explained his decision not to play the Portuguese superstar against Man City. Ten Hag said he did not bring Ronaldo on out of respect for the Portuguese. Man Utd had fallen to a heavy 6-3 defeat to Man City in that game.

Now everyone can debate his decision. With respect to Ronaldo’s career why aren’t you playing him and why isn’t he starting? It doesn’t make sense.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has had a difficult start to the 22/23 season. The Portuguese striker has so far featured in eight matches for Man Utd this season. But only three of those have been as a starter. The rest were appearances off the bench.

Ronaldo has also struggled to deliver the goods this season. He has scored just once in the eight matches he has so far played in the 22/23 campaign. That goal came in Man Utd’s 2-0 win over FC Sheriff in the Europa League as he converted a penalty.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo was linked with a move away from Man Utd in the summer transfer window. Reports said that the Portuguese had asked Man Utd to allow him to leave should they receive a suitable offer.

But interest in the Portugal international was few and far between and he ended up staying at the Old Trafford outfit.

Meanwhile, reports that emerged this week have suggested Man Utd will allow Ronaldo to leave the club in the January transfer window.
