PSG news: Christophe Galiter Plays Down Neymar & Mbappe Rift Suggestions

PSG news: Manager Christophe Galtier has played down suggestions that there is ‘discomfort’ between Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr.

The incident that led to suggestions of a rift between Neymar and Mbappe happened during PSG’s 5-2 win over Montpellier in the Ligue 1. The defending Ligue 1 champions won a penalty in the 23rd minute, which Kylian Mbappe missed.

Speaking ahead of PSG’s next Ligue 1 game, against LOSC Lille, Galtier played down suggestions of a rift and confirmed they had met to iron out things.

Galtier insisted that there is no discomfort between Neymar and Mbappe. He also confirmed they had met the day after the incident to “iron out all that”.

“That’s why there is no malaise and I confirm it with a lot of sincerity, we had a very pleasant week of work where everyone worked to prepare for the match against Lille.”

Meanwhile, PSG have begun their 22/23 season in stellar fashion. PSG inflicted a heavy 4-0 defeat on Nantes to win the Trophée des Champions in their first game of the season.

The Ligue 1 champions then began their title defense with a thumping 5-0 win over Clermont Foot. Neymar put PSG ahead in the ninth minute before goals from Achraf Hakimi and Marquinhos made it 3-0. Lionel Messi found the back of the net in the 80th and 86th minutes to seal PSG’s victory.

PSG hosted Montpellier in their second game of the Ligue 1 22/23 season. They took the lead through Falaye Sacko’s own goal in the 39th minute. Neymar then converted from the spot in the 41st minute to give PSG a two-goal advantage.

Neymar then scored his second goal of the match in the 51st minute. Montpellier pulled one back in the 58th minute, courtesy of Wahbi Khazri.

PSG restored their three-goal advantage through Mbappe in the 69th minute. Renato Sanches made it 5-1 in the 87th minute before Enzo Tchato scored another consolatory goal in the 90+2nd minute.
